I Used To Be The "Smart One." Then I Hit The Brick Wall.
If we met a few years ago, you would have seen the image I was projecting a high-flyer, the person who excelled academically, got promoted quickly, and always "got things done."
But internally? I was drowning.
I was experiencing what I now call The Identity Shift. I had always knew there was something underneath the surface but never had the language to explain what I was feeling. When I trained as a teacher it started to click, sitting in a session about SEND and hearing the traits and signs of neurodivergence it all started to click. I had the language I could identify that the challenges I was experiencing was AuDHD (Autism and ADHD).
It finally made sense why my ambition could be saying "Go," but your brain was pressing the "Stop" button.
I tried to fix it the way I fixed everything else: by pushing harder. I bought the planners, I woke up earlier, I forced myself to focus (to little avail). But standard productivity advice isn't designed for neurodivergent brains. It didn't make me better; it made me burnt out.
All of this led to me having to leave my job in educational leadership and go on a deep journey of healing and learning to work with my brain rather than against it.
I realised I didn't have a capability problem. I had an operating system problem.
I stopped fighting my brain and started studying it, testing, trialing and learning along the way.
Years later I've immersed myself in this world with a passion to support others to understand and thrive with their unique brains. Combining principles from positive psychology, neuro linguistic programming and soloution focused coaching has been the foundation of creating the
